I Was Procrastinating On My Blog - AI Helped Me Beat It

I wanted to blog consistently for years.

Actually, let me rephrase that. I wanted to WANT to blog consistently.

There's a difference.

The Problem

I'd get excited about a topic. Open my laptop. Stare at the screen. Then close it.

"I'm not ready yet," I'd tell myself. "Need to research more." "Need a better idea."
The truth? I was scared. Scared of writing something bad. Scared of putting myself out there. Scared of failing publicly.

So I procrastinated. And felt guilty. And promised myself next week would be different.

It never was. This went on for years. I'd see other blogs with consistent posting. Wonder how they did it. Feel bad about myself. Then repeat the cycle.

The Turning Point

Then I started using AI differently. Not to write for me. But to break the friction.

See, the hardest part wasn't writing. It was starting. That moment between "I have an idea" and "I'm writing." AI helped me bridge that gap.

The Specifics

Here's what actually worked:

When I had an idea but didn't know how to start, I'd ask AI to give me 3 possible angles. Pick one. Then ask for an outline. Then fill in the blanks.

When I felt myself procrastinating because "it's not good enough," I'd set a timer. 30 minutes. First draft only. No editing. Just get words on screen.

When I finished a draft but didn't want to publish, I'd ask AI: "What's one thing I could improve?" Fix that one thing. Then publish.

Small moves. Not big ones. Every time I felt stuck, I'd ask AI a question. Get an answer. Take one small step. Repeat.

The Real Change

Here's what I realised: AI didn't make me a better writer. It made me a consistent writer. Big difference.

I still do the work. Still write the words. Still put my voice in it. Still make decisions about what's good and what's not. But the friction is gone. The excuse is gone. Now when I want to write, I write. Not next week. Not when I'm ready. Now.

That's the change. Not productivity. Not discipline. Just... removing obstacles.
This works for anything. Not just writing. Anything you've been procrastinating on.

Find the friction. Remove it. Done.

The Result

I published more in the last 6 months than the previous 2 years combined.

Not because I'm suddenly more talented. Not because I'm more disciplined. But because I removed the obstacles.

That's what AI did for me.

What's Your Friction?

Maybe it's not starting for you. Maybe it's research. Maybe it's editing. Maybe it's publishing. Figure out your friction point. Then find a way around it.

For me, it was starting. AI helped.

For you, it might be something else. Figure out what.

That's the secret. Not productivity hacks. Not discipline tips. Just... removing the obstacles that stop you from doing the work.
